You may have already satisfied the UC Entry-level Writing Requirement via:

• an Advanced Placement English exam (score of 3, 4, or 5)
• the SAT II Writing exam (score of 680 or higher)
• the IB higher level English exam (score of 5) or IB standard level English exam (score of 6)
• or completion of a transferable freshman composition course from another college (grade of 'C' or better)

NOTE: Enrollment in any writing course at UCI, including the Humanities Core course, is dependent upon placement results from the UC Analytical Writing Placement Exam or on satisfaction of the UC Entry-level Writing Requirement.

You can still apply for financial aid after these dates, however, your application may only be considered for funds available (typically Pell Grants, if eligible, and Direct Loans).

If you applied for on-campus housing, do so by the deadline (May 1) and submit your housing contract, reservation fee, and required form(s) by the stated contract deadline. Your UCInetID is your personal login and password for all electronic UCI Services. Your password should not be shared with anyone.

If necessary, make changes via "MyAdmissionsApplication" at http://www.admissions.uci.edu or in a letter to the Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools.

"zotALERT" is UCI's emergency alert system that uses text messages to quickly notify the UCI community of a natural disaster, crisis response or need to secure the campus. To be used only in an emergency, zotAlert adds to the university's existing emergency communications network.

The SLR is used to determine residence classification for registration fee purposes. You will not be able to register for classes until the SLR has been submitted. If you do not mail in the contract, you will not get housing on-campus. The contract may require additional postage to mail.

High school and/or college transcripts, as well as all official test scores such as SAT, ACT, SAT II, AP, IB must be sent to the Admissions Office. All documents must be received by July 15, 2008. Documents should be sent to:

If you are a commuter student, buy my parking permit online with a credit card through the Parking web site. On-campus residents should wait until they have received their housing assignments in September. Parking is located in Public Services Building (Building 7 (D8)) 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.

Accept your aid online by accessing "My Aid Award" and completing the following:

• Electronic Fund Transfer/Mail selection form
• Statement of Understanding for any loans you've accepted
• Promissory notes for any loans that you've accepted

If not, check on "My Aid" on the Financial Aid web site.

If you haven't received it by mid-July, call (949) 824-5137. This letter contains information on accessing and downloading the complete New Student Health Information Packet via the Student Health web site. The welcome letter is not the same as the USHIP packet. ALL new students must return required health forms completed to Student Health Center prior to the start of the fall quarter, regardless of the insurance plan in which they are enrolled.

If you have received any outside scholarships or changed my housing plans, you must notify the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships by completing the "Report my Changes" form on "My Aid."

If you would like to pay your fees in installments, apply for the PACE Fee Installment Plan online at http://www.fs.uci.edu by the end of August. Carefully read the PACE terms and conditions, understand them, and agree to abide by them.

Apply, if eligible, online at http://www.shs.uci.edu for a health insurance waiver. If you do not apply for a waiver, you will automatically be enrolled in the USHIP health plan.

View your current account information to see the amount due and financial aid currently available to pay fees by September 15. If your parents are paying your fees, email them a copy of your account and a payment stub, or provide them with the payment information. Review the FAQs on Zot Account Online for help in reading the bill or signing up for electronic payments.

NOTE: Fees MUST be RECEIVED at the UCI Cashier's Office by 4:30 p.m. on the deadline date. Postmarks do not apply. If fees are not paid by the close of business on the September 15th fee deadline, you will be charged a late fee payment penalty, and you will be dropped from all your fall classes.

A special fee for materials and/or equipment is charged for most lab section courses. Lab charges are posted to Zot Accounts throughout the quarter, and are separate charges from your registration fees. You will NOT receive a special notice when these charges occur, but they will appear on your regularly scheduled ZOT Bill.

Since lab fees generally occur after financial aid checks have gone out, be sure to review your online current account information regularly. If your aid has already been disbursed when they hit your account, you will be responsible for paying these charges yourself.

Access WebReg and enroll in a minimum of six (6) units by the September 15 deadline. NOTE: Waitlisted units do not count as enrolled units.

Move-in is on either September 20 or 21. Check your housing assignment for more information.

Go to New Student Convocation on Monday September 22 at 9:00 a.m. as well as your Dean's Welcome immediately following the Convocation.

Walk around campus to find all of your class locations, and campus services like food locations and restrooms.

The UCI Bookstore shelves are organized by course and posted information indicates which books are required. Books can also be ordered online to be shipped or reserved with designated pick-up periods.

The first meeting for a course is always the Lecture (LEC).
